Project ChildSafe's National Rollout Begins
From Maine to the state of Washington, elected officials and police and
sheriff departments are eagerly signing on to participate in Project ChildSafe
to raise awareness in communities about safe and responsible firearm ownership
and storage. More than 2,000 law enforcement departments have partnered
with Project ChildSafe in five states, and official kickoff press conferences
are being scheduled with governors, lieutenant governors and U.S. attorneys.
Governor John Hoeven helps distribute safety kits at
the recent North Dakota State Fair.

"We are thrilled with the response from elected officials and from law
enforcement to participate in this valuable firearm safety education program," said
Bill Brassard, NSSF managing director of communications, safety and education, "We
are now on our way to distribute more than 19 million firearm safety kits
to gun owners in all 50 states and the five U.S. territories." Project
ChildSafe trucks are distributing locks in Maine, New York and Massachusetts,
with Michigan and Washington to follow soon. (Click
